GRAHAM BAM HEALTHCARE PARTNERSHIP PROJECT

The New Acute Mental Health Inpatient Centre at Belfast City Hospital provides 74 acute mental health en-suite bedrooms, including 6 psychiatric intensive care beds. It replaces the inpatient provision for greater Belfast which was spread across 3 separate sites.

The facility consists of 5 separate interconnecting buildings arranged around a cloistered central courtyard and communal and administration areas.  All aspects of the design have been carefully considered including; colours, lighting, materials, furniture, fixtures and fittings, to ensure that the surrounding environment helps improve the overall inpatient experience.

The modern facility supports the development of the Belfast Trust’s Acute Mental Health service and offers high standards of treatment and evidence-based interventions for patients experiencing an acute phase of mental illness. The service works with the individual and their family/carer towards their recovery.
