Description of Works:
Construction of M11 Motorway from Arklow - Rathnew, Upgrade of existing N11, Upgrade of N7 Newlands Cross Junction & Construction of Gorey Service Station.
The project consists of four sections:
- The M11 PPP involved design and construction of a new Arklow to Rathnew motorway, a 35km upgrade of the existing M11, and construction of Gorey Service Station. Works undertken included the construction of 16.5km of new motorway; the upgrade of 35km of the existing M11 road; three interchanges including the Beehive and Jack White’s Crossroads; the construction of 15km single carriageway and nine major bridges.
- The design and construction of a service area north of Gorey which will provide facilities for M11 traffic. The service area facilities will be provided on the western side of the dual carriageway with access to and from the southbound carriageway via an overbridge.
- The design, construction operation and maintenance of the N7 Newlands Cross junction to an overpass grade-separated junction. The N7 mainline was raised above its existing level while the Belgard / Fonthill Road (R113) remains at the current level.
Construction commenced July 2013 with a completion scheduled date of November 2015. The M11 Section was completed 3 months ahead of schedule in July 2015 and The N7 Newlands Cross phase was finished 4 months ahead of schedule in November 2014. This PPP also includes the operation and maintenance of the 50km road for 27 years.
