New interchange constructed in live traffic comprising
- 3 km dual carriageway
- Bridge installation - 2 span overbridge on piled reinforced earth embankments, pedestrian underpasses, draiang, rock slop stabilisation and major piling works.
- Associated tie-ins/side roads and signalling
- Major traffic interface to facilitate 100,000vehciles using the existing rouanbout daily
- Design & Build project completed 2 months ahead of schedule
The Bridge installation involved
- twin span constructed during a 36 hour window each deck comprising of 105t 37.5m span precast W-Beams lifted using a 500t crane
- Precast parapet installation during the 36 hr bridge installation
Traffic Management: Measures taken
- Independent road safety audit on traffic management plans
- All traffic management designed to UK Ch. 8
- Temporary speed restriction at 60Kph were put in place
- Variogaurd barrier installed to separate traffic in contra flow situations
- 24 hr freephone service to record complaints
- Continual maintenance of traffic management plan
