This underground interpretative centre, set into the barren landscape of West Clare, close to the edge of the 700 ft. high cliffs has been designed so that the visual impact on the landscape of the new centre is minimised.

The existing outdated visitor centre was demolished and replaced with an enlarged visitor centre. Due to the sensitive location the new building wad concealed by covering it with topsoil and replanting the natural grasses on top.

It includes an Entrance foyer, Tourist Information area, Retail area, Interpretative areas, Public toilet facilities, Audiovisual room, Restaurant, Kitchen and all associated staff facilities.

Works also included of the construction of a new visitor carpark to cater for the 500,000 visitors annually. As part of the site works the existing footpaths were upgraded and two lookout towers constructed for the visitor access to the cliff edge.
