The Shell Corrib Tunnel, constructed by BAM Civil & Sister Company Wayss & Freytag was awarded the Environmental Initiative of the Year accolade at the International Tunnelling Association Awards 2015 held recently in Switzerland. The 4.9km TBM tunnel in County Mayo was constructed in a way that minimised and mitigated the potential environmental impact of the route under Sruwaddacon Bay.
