BAM UK & Ireland will deliver a long awaited transformation of Peckham Rye Station Square, helping to regenerate the area and create new opportunities for businesses and the wider community.
The work, delivered for our partner Southwark Council, will begin in March 2026, with the project team working closely with the Greater London Authority and Network Rail to realise a shared vision for a welcoming and vibrant public space at the heart of Peckham, set to be completed by the summer of 2027.
The Grade II listed station building will be enhanced by its new surroundings. The dilapidated 1930s arcade will be removed to reinstate the original forecourt with planting, seating and lighting, bringing focus to the historic arches along the north and south sides of the square.
Along with refurbishment of the arches, there will be new premises for local businesses bringing economic benefit and a greater sense of community around the station.
While delivering these facilities, BAM will continue to reinvest in the local community, contributing 80 volunteer hours at local educational institutions, supporting the recruitment new apprentices, and spending circa £3.9 million with local companies to support the regional supply chain.
BAM will also be collaborating with a local school to create new artwork for the construction hoarding. The design will celebrate the unique character of Peckham.
"The Peckham Rye Station Square renovation will be fantastic for the local community and commuters alike. Working with our partners, we’re reinstating the original forecourt, removing the 1930s arcade and refurbishing the arches to enhance the Grade II listed station and support local businesses. This is no mean feat and we’re proud to bring our expertise to this ambitious project.”
