Social Value

For BAM, we want local communities where we operate to benefit. We work closely with Enterprise Ireland, local Chambers of Commerce and Business in the Community (BITC) on ways to maximise business for local enterprises, particularly to local suppliers and subcontractors. Community has always been an important element of life throughout Ireland. Corporate Ireland’s role in Sustainability is not confined to one area. By involving stakeholders, supporting charitable organisations, driving societal change, implementing environmental initiatives and assisting local groups, Irish companies make a difference in multiple spheres of life.

The BAM 'Enhancing Lives' initiative is about making a real and positive difference to the lives of people we come into contact with through our work. This is about adding real value (through activities that would not happen without our support/ intervention) and also supporting people through grass roots organisations as well as those with a wide reach. Activities largely focus around employment, training, education, community and charity engagement. Outcomes support one or more of social, economic and environmental sustainability – which involves direct support from BAM, but we also work with our supply chains to widen the opportunities to enhance lives. Through our work in enhancing lives we play our part in addressing social issues on a local and global basis.
